Modalities & Practices
If you are seeking support or navigating a challenging life transition, I am here to help you rediscover calm, resilience, and greater fulfillment. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), and Board-Certified PTSD Therapist (BCPTSD), I offer highly personalized psychotherapy for adults and young adults experiencing anxiety, problematic anger, substance use challenges with alcohol or prescription/recreational drugs, and attachment difficulties rooted in childhood trauma. I also specialize in helping clients address relationship conflicts, including intimacy and communication issues, as well as supporting adoptive families.
With many years of clinical experience and advanced training across a wide range of evidence-based modalities, I will work collaboratively with you to find the most effective path forward — empowering you to live your best, most authentic life.
Modalities & Practices
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a highly effective therapy for mood disorders as it brings awareness to negative thought patterns and behaviors that keep us stuck in anxiety or depression. It helps clients create healthier mindsets, and offers practical strategies to overcome day-to-day challenges.
Emotion Focused
Therapy (EFT)
This highly researched therapy can support profound change by helping clients develop better emotional regulation and self-care practices. EFT can bring to light suppressed emotions, and empower the client to accept and transform these negative emotions into positive insights and behaviors.
Dialectical Behavior
Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a treatment model based on 20 years of research. It addresses emotional over-control, which leads to inhibited expression; hyper-detail focused and overly cautious behavior. This has been linked to anxiety, depression, OCD, etc. DBT helps clients relax their excessive need for control, and enjoy more openness, flexibility, and social connectedness.
Dyadic Development Psychotherapy (DDP)
Dyadic developmental psychotherapy (DDP) is an attachment-focused therapy developed by Dr. Daniel Hughes. It is an evidence-based treatment for complex trauma, reactive attachment issues (RAD). It is often used to treat children in foster care and adoptive families, especially those who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect.
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
Accelerated experiential-dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on exploring the in-depth processing of difficult emotional and relational experiences. This innovative method was developed by Dr. Diana Fosha and has roots in and resonances with many disciplines, amongst them attachment theory, affective neuroscience, and body-focused approaches. Although difficult and trying emotional experiences are often our least favorite parts of life, these stumbling blocks can lead to a keener self of sense and instill confidence and courage in an otherwise unstable foundation.
Imago Relationship Therapy
Imago Relationship Therapy, developed by Dr. Harville Hendrix and Dr. Helen LaKelly Hunt, is a form of relationship and couples therapy that focuses on transforming conflict into healing and growth through relational connection. Childhood feelings of abandonment, suppression, or neglect will often arise in a marriage or committed relationship. Through Imago Relationship Therapy, couples can understand each other’s feelings and childhood wounds more empathically, allowing them to heal themselves and their relationships and move toward a more "Conscious Relationship."
Mindfulness & Meditation
These practices are great complementary tools when treating mood disorders. Mindfulness and meditation can help us detach from negative thoughts, feel calmer and clearer, and choose more positive responses and behaviors. There is a renewed sense of being connected to yourself and the world around you….a renewed sense of curiosity, resilience, and the adventure of life.
